The account is optional, and everything free works without one
The panchang, the month view, the working behind every date, the printable calendar and your full birth chart all work with no account and no payment. Nothing on those pages asks who you are.
If you do make an account, it holds your email address and the time you last used it. That is the whole record. There is no password, because signing in is a link sent to that address — so there is nothing to leak, reset, or reuse from another site. You can ask us to delete it at any time and the row goes.
Saved charts, if you save them
An account can save people — a name, and a birth date, time and place. Those are stored, because remembering them is the point. Nothing derived from them is: no chart, no dasha, no reading is ever written down, because they are cheap to recompute and a stored chart is a stored claim about somebody. Delete a person and the row goes with them.
If you subscribe
Card details never reach us. Payment happens on Stripe's own pages, and what comes back to us is an identifier for your subscription and whether it is active. We cannot see your card, and we never have it to lose. Stripe is the data controller for that payment; their privacy notice covers it.
Your location is used and discarded
To compute a panchang we need a latitude and a longitude, because sunrise is what assigns a tithi to a day. That happens one of two ways:
- You pick a city. The coordinates are the city's, not yours.
- You tap "Use my location". Your browser asks your permission first, and the coordinates are sent to our calculation service to work out that day's values.
Either way the coordinates are used for the calculation and not stored against you. They appear in ordinary server request logs, which our host keeps briefly and then deletes.
Analytics, only if you say yes
We would like to know which cities people check, so we know where to get the computation right first. If you accept, Google Analytics is loaded and sets cookies. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, nothing is requested from Google at all — no script, no cookie, not even a DNS lookup. Advertising and personalisation signals are switched off whatever you choose.
Analytics never receives a birth date, a birth time or a birth place. The chart page writes those into its own address bar so a chart can be linked and shared, and three separate things keep them out of Google: the tag reports the path only and never the query string, the property's history-event tracking is switched off so the rewritten address cannot slip past that, and the data stream itself redacts every one of those parameter names before anything is sent. What we learn is that the chart page was used. Whose chart it was stays out of it.

Birth details, when you ask for a chart
A birth chart cannot be computed without a date, a time and a place, so the chart page asks for them. We do not store them. There is no account, no database and nothing written to disk: the details go to the server, a chart comes back, and that is the end of it. They do travel in the web address, which means they appear in ordinary server request logs, which our host keeps briefly and then deletes — the same logs described above. If that is more than you want to share, the chart page works just as well with a city you were merely born near, and the difference to the reading is usually nothing.
The link in your address bar after you cast a chart contains those details. It is yours to keep or share; we never see who you send it to.
The notify list
The footer offers to tell you when there is something new. If you give an address there, we send exactly one message and stop — a confirmation asking whether you meant it. Nothing further is ever sent to an address that has not clicked it. That is what makes the click the record of your consent, and it is also why nobody can put your address on this list but you.
What is kept is the address, when it was asked for, and when it was confirmed. Not your IP, not which page you were on, not anything about what you read. Every message carries a link that removes you, it works without signing in to anything, and it keeps working — those links do not expire.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no selling or sharing of anything to anyone.
- No account needed for anything free — and a chart cast without one is computed and forgotten.
- No card details, ever. Those live at Stripe and never touch this site.
- No marketing to an address that has not confirmed it wants some.
- No tracking across other sites.
Who runs this, and how to reach us
Ganit is built and operated by Anantex, which is why the address below is on a different domain to this site. It is a working inbox that a person reads — not a no-reply.
Questions about any of this, a request to see what is held about you, or a request to delete it, all go to contact@anantex.com. A deletion request is done by hand and confirmed back to you; there is not much to delete, which is the point of the sections above.
